Postdoctoral fellow

During his PhD, Romain studied the link between humor and social learning in infants (14–22 months), exploring the effects of surprise and physiological arousal. He also developed a theoretical model linking humor, surprise, novelty, and curiosity, leading him to focus on the role of curiosity in learning. His postdoctoral research now examines how the environmental predictability influences curiosity (exploration) and learning (Goldilocks effect) and how surprise-induced physiological arousal promotes learning through curiosity.
